Don’t Give Up On Magic
Hello all. As of late, I’ve been receiving quite a bit of PMs from many people who say that they’ve been practicing, or attempting to practice, magic for quite some time and are thinking about giving up due to lack of results. To this I say DON’T. Magic is a learned skill, just like riding a bike, coding, driving, dancing, sports, etc. It’s not something that you do with one spell and all your dreams come true. It takes time, effort and most importantly, dedication.
Magic isn’t for everyone, this is true, but everyone does have the potential to be successful at it. The question is, will they. If you’re not seeing results the first thing you must do is look at why. You won’t find this advice in any Neo-Pagan, Wiccan, Satanist, Luciferian, Demonolatry or Western Hermeticism/Ceremonial Magic books but it is a very common practice among the practitioners. That practice is readings. I’ve said it many times before but it should really hit home for some users now: ALWAYS DO A READING BEFORE ENGAGING IN ANY SPELL OR RITUAL WORK, especially if your spell or ritual is intended to affect another person. Why should you do a reading? Because it allows you to see if the work is worth doing. It gives you the opportunity to see if there are any opposing forces that may hinder your magic from succeeding. I won’t go into what those forces may be as they are numerous but your reading should divine those answers for you.
Not doing a reading could be a big hindrance to your success as you may be going after things that are either unobtainable or very hard to obtain and would need some strategic sorcery to work around it. Another reason you could not be seeing results is your lack of Will. It’s your Will that shapes your reality. Without a focused Will and intent all you have is some lit candles and some fancy words. No real power. You must learn to focus your Will and Intent if you want to start seeing results in your magical work.
Finally, don’t jump from system to system. I see this a lot. You think Satanism is the right way to achieve your goals but when you see no results you jump to hoodoo. When you get nothing there you switch to evocation. No spirits appear so you spend money on radionics devices. So on and so forth. Not a good idea. You should only switch systems in one of three circumstances:
- You’ve become adept at your current system and wish to expand your arsenal of magical ability
- You’ve spent ample time on the current system, done your readings and still no results are coming
- You’ve become bored with your current system but are definitely adept at it and just wish for a change and something fresh
Aside from that, I recommend that all beginners do some in-depth research on a few systems that seem to call out to them and pick one and stick with it for a while, even if no results come. Keep a journal so you can note your ritual process and such. That way you can always come back to it later and see what you did right/wrong. Don’t jump from system to system after only a few weeks or a few months of practice and no results. There could be many reasons for the lack of results, some of which I noted above.
So the moral here is don’t give up. Magic isn’t learned overnight. It takes time and effort on your part. I would also recommend getting a reading from an experienced practitioner to determine if magic is something you should even consider because as I said, it’s not for everyone. But if you’re already practicing and not seeing results, reevaluate your work. Take notes and reference them often. Make changes if you’re not working with a rigid system like GT. And lastly, don’t be afraid to ask for help. You can’t be an expert in everything. If you need help or advice don’t be afraid to ask. Just don’t be a loser and spell begging. So keep at it and results should soon follow.
