When Servitors and Egregores Go Bad by Stergalia Noctura

There is a magician I know who, when new to the craft, created a Servitor, successfully – almost. He was too new and inexperienced in magick to understand how to “program” his Servitor. It transformed into an egregore that mentally tortured its creator so severely that he reached out for help. It was driving him crazy. We chatted for a couple of months when he said he wanted to destroy this servitor-became-egregore, and that he had been thinking of Abaddon-Apollyon, The Destroyer. He truly wanted it gone because of its non-stop taunting and harassing, but the magician had trouble letting the egregore go.
He and I discussed how best for him to give the egregore to Abaddon, but I noticed he was having a very rough time releasing it. So, as we talked, I told the man to visualize taking the egregore to the Abyss and offering it to Abaddon-Apollyon as a gift and hand it off to him (Abaddon). After a few minutes, the magician seemed to have been successful, so I prescribed a full week off from all magick because this man needed a break. It appeared for a short while the offering worked, but then the egregore came back and boy howdy, it was PISSED. The Keeper of the Abyss refused the offering, and it was nearly two weeks before we got the answer. Abaddon-Apollyon wanted the magician to start training the egregore he had created, to learn to work with it. Abaddon showed me that the egregore was pissed because it was not fulfilling any purpose because the magician did not assign any to it.
When I finally connected with Abaddon-Apollyon, He told me that because this man created the egregore, he was responsible for it. Abaddon wanted this magician to learn from his creation (the egregore) and to train it so it could fulfill a purpose. The magician and I went back and forth about this because he was… well, just tired of the whole thing with the egregore.
As we keep in touch, the magician updates me about the things he sees, hears, feels, and does. This magician is GIFTED – He does not recognize it, just like so many other genuinely gifted people. I am sure if he had to do it over again, he would not have created this egregore until he gained more experience, which to me, is wise for all magicians.
It’s similar to how stores used to deal with people breaking items: “You broke it, you bought it! “Spiritually, “You created it; you are responsible for it!”
Now he knows better, and I believe is beginning to accept his responsibility with the egregore. As mean and judgmental as that may sound, I want you all to understand and appreciate the implications of this accounting. After all, it is your life for which you are responsible, as well as for your magick.
***Hints:
- If you are new to the craft, please, take your time to learn. Perform your due diligence before you take on more extensive workings.
- If you are not sure about what you are doing, communicate within the forums and groups to which you belong, and ask for help.
- Take responsibility for what you do. When you screw up, look at your mistake and let it become your Teacher so you can learn and grow. There exists no such thing as failure – only feedback.
- If you’ve really screwed up and are stuck, ask for help from legitimate magicians. Here again, you will have to pay your due diligence in researching who to ask.
Remember, we are all learning. All of us. Start small, work your way up to bigger and better things.
Namaste.
