Creating Your Own Spells
I’ve decided to write up this tutorial to help beginners (or even those who may have a few years under their belt but rely strictly on spell books) craft their own spells. Spell creation is actually quite simple depending on the components used. Spell creation is only as complicated as you make it. So let’s get started, shall we?
Days of the Week
The first step in spell creation is to determine when is the best time to conduct your work. Before you gather any materials it’s best to find out which day is best. I’ve listed below the days of the week and some common influences that day has on particular spell types. I’ve also decided to bundle the colors, herbs and planetary associations to go along with their respective days so I don’t have to spend hours writing this tutorial.
Planet – Moon. Colors: silver, white, gray. Herbs: moonwort, myrtle, violet, willow, wormwood. Influences: (types of spells): dreams, emotions, clairvoyance, home, family, medicine, cooking, personality, merchandising, theft.
Planet- Mars. Colors: red, orange. Herbs: basil, dragon’s blood, patchouli. Influences: dynamic energy, matrimony, war, enemies, prison, hunting, surgery, courage, politics, contests.
Planet- Mercury. Colors: gray, iridescent, opal, violet, yellow. Herbs: jasmine, lavender. Influences: communication, teaching, reason, divination, skill, debt, fear, self-improvement, loss.
Planet- Jupiter. Colors: blue, indigo, purple. Herbs: cinnamon, cinquefoil, musk, nutmeg, sage. Influences: health, honor, luck, riches, clothing, money, legal, matters, desires.
Planet- Venus. Colors: aqua, green, pink. Herbs: lime, saffron, sandalwood, thyme. Influences: love, friendship, social activities, strangers, pleasure, art, music, incense, and perfumes.
Planet- Saturn; Colors- black, dark gray, indigo; Herbs- black poppy seeds, mullein, myrrh; Influences- self-discipline, life, building, doctrine, protection, freedom, elderly, destroying diseases and pests.
Planet- Sun; Colors- gold, orange, white, yellow; Herbs- frankincense, lemon, St. Johnswort; Influences- individuality, hope, fortune, money, work, power, healing, promotions, strength, spirituality.
Once you’ve chosen the day, planetary associations, tides, elemental correspondences, colors, numbers, etc you may now gather your materials. Candles, herbs, ribbons, coins, etc. Anything that you can associate with what you want the spell to do. Another important aspect is the moon phase.
Moons For Spell Work
Waxing: For growth and new projects
Full: For completions, healing, and empowerment
Waning: For releasings, cleansings, and banishings
New (dark): For divinations and dark power magics
Now its time to find out what type of spell you want to create. The most basic form of magic comes in five basic categories, they are:
The “other” category is stuff like weather magic, daily affirmations, etc.
So, let’s create an example spell. Say we want to attract love. We can see from the above chart that Friday is the best day for love, so we can do it on a Friday. I would say if possible, do this on a full moon. However, moon phases may not always correlate to the specific day of the week you need. So you can forego the moon phase if necessary.
I think I should state here that aligning the day of the week to your spells is NOT necessary. While it does add extra power to your spells you are free to perform a love spell on a Tuesday or dark magic on a Thursday for example.
Ok, so it’s Friday night and even though you should be out drinking and partying you need to cast this spell. So, looking at the above chart you can see that pink is a good color for love magic. You can use a pink candle for this working. Also, if you are into herbology you can make a sachet with herbs like thyme and saffron in it.
So you’ve got the day of the week down, the moon phase if feasible, candles are colored according to your working, any herbs if you like. From here you may write the actual words to the spell. I can’t help you here, it must come from within. It can rhyme, or not. It can be a haiku or a general statement.
Now, you’ve created your own spell! I won’t go over how to actually cast it, as this tutorial was specifically on the creation. I have created another one on how to raise, direct and release energy to accomplish your goal (also known as casting a spell). I hope this tutorial has helped you.
